There are a lot of threads on winterising on here but no mention of the filter on shurflo pumps.
If yours has the in-line mesh filter just before the pump, if you un-screw the clear plastic bowl on the bottom of the filter body you will find it full of water, even after a full drain down.
I'm not saying that this is the case with every unit but it is on mine and it did crack one year during that severe winter we had a few years ago, that's how I found out about it and you have to buy the whole unit, you cant just buy the bowl.
