Hi we have a coachman festival and have got a new camp tech awning this year when we got the van . It's on a seasonal pitch and the awning has Ben up all year . We have never been completely happy with the awning at the back as it has a big crease in the corner on the back panel we have moved the poles tensioned the poles and re peggedd the dam thing but no joy.We contacted Glossop and th awning is 975 to 1000 which is the right size for the van it fits great at the front and the front side it's just the back. Anyway Glossop have now said raise the van by the steadies but I was told that can damage the chassis . The van is a 2008 based on the coachman amara and this is the size they say it is can anyone help or have any ideas
We too bought a Camptech full awning and found it to be a nightmare.
It leaked like a sieve, we had problems with getting it right, it was awful. We must admit we laughed each time we came back and said "I wonder who's awning that is, they need a few lessons in putting it up"!!
We found the zips were very inferior and we rung the dealer while we were away and told them the problems we were having. On our arrival home we took it back and they said they would exchange it less £50 which we thought to be very fair. We now have a Bradcot aspire 390 air awning so hoping this will be ok.
You need to run your van on to timber to lift the van higher, Plus i dont just have the legs down for support. I have 4 axle stands under the van, wheels off the ground to stop flat spots etc. Most seasonal pitches do this.

Hi the dealer has said they won't change the awning as we have had it since April we are so peed off its untrue . We have had no other problems zips ect are all fine. If we lowered the front steadies would this not make the front sag then even if we raise the back ones on wood blocks .We don't have axles just the less down bill no one else has either . We will have prprobe moving it now as we have put a floor in the awning x
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Any dealer that tells you to use the steadies to raise the van is a dealer I would avoid.
Steadies are wound down to just touch the ground not lift the van in any way,it will damage the van floor.
The jockey wheel is used to level front to back and wooden blocks/ramps to level side to side under one wheel if required. Then steadies wound down not taking any weight.
If you need more height use wooden blocks or ramps below the wheels to raise the van. This is all done before the four corner steadies are wound down.

------------- It is a wise man who has something to say.
It is a fool who has to say something.
Our seasonal pitch is on a bit of a slant and we were advised, by the site owners, not to have the awning straight at the back (which is higher than the front) but to spread it out to take up some of the slack. We did this, tensioned the poles and the awning hasn't moved this year.
I have found that getting a full awning just right is a bit of a black art - sometimes it's perfect without any trouble yet other times it just won't go right however I try to fettle it.
------------- Camping Gear expands so as to fill the space available for its transportation.
You can't raise rear of caravan only or you will have an unlevel caravan. It would be simple enough to raise the whole caravan without damage as explained earlier by running wheels onto cut lengths of planks or caravan levelling blocks & then more short lengths of timber under steadies if required as well.
That way you will raise the whole caravan without stressing body & it will be level.

Think i know what you are saying.
Dosent matter if you have made a floor, You are just making the van a little higher off the ground. Even 2 axle stands are better than none,Jack the van put axle stands under the axle behind each wheel,Just lift the van a couple of inches will make a vast differance, Glossop told you to do this, I have seen it it done it & got the T shirt, it will work for you
