Things hanging from the awning in these locations won't come into contact with the side of the van and have the chance to cause scratches or other damage.

I've posted before on several threads about the merits of this particular awning but people only seem interested in Vango or Kampa both of which seem to cost double for no appreciable difference in quality and also lack some useful features.
