Hi all,
I don't own a caravan, I recently purchased a Folding Camper but I do like to read the various forums to pick up tips etc.
What a sad indictment of the caravan industry this post seems to suggest, a caravan is someone's pride and joy and yet purchasers are being let down by poor build quality. The problem of damp seems rife with an essential tool a damp proof meter. If I purchased a boat I wouldn't expect it to leak!
Yep, i luckily still own my 2005 pathfinder which is immaculate. Dont get me wrong love the luxury of a caravan but you dont expect it to be poorly built. The only place i got damp on my fc canvas after a hard downpour, and that was on the outside.

Now I don't want to speak too soon BUT I have a damp free Bailey Pursuit and so far so good :-) we love it as we did our pathfinder.
It's only a year old biut seems to be put together well, and after reading many many articles and comments I was a little concerned but, keep it waxed and regular cleaning and airing I am sure all helps.
Plus the new Alu shell is a great advancement but if any seals go you know the water will find its way! So regular checks on the general health of the seals/mastic is a must I would suggest and the grease lightning cleaner and polish we use makes the rain bead like a fresh waxed car which definatley helps repel the water settling on the van.
Cheers all and the new year is fast approaching for spring. Summer and autum touring :-)
