Friday, but the forecast is for wind gusts
of 50mph over Shap on the M6 in Cumbria.

Keep an eye on the forecast as the BBC are only forecasting light winds in that area for Friday. The final decision on whether to travel can only be decided by you, looking at the current BBC forecast for Friday, I would still be planning on travelling.

Use met office. They give hourly forecast for a particular area. Try and input a post code or place name. I have found them pretty accurate for inland sailing where we need to know the forecast.
Not just the wind in Cumbria at the moment. Even though most of the floods are well away from the M6, do be aware that that particular stretch of motorway often has flash floods and you never know how deep they are. So keep an ear open for weather reports of heavy rain as well.
