Anyone have any dealings with an lmc caravan?
Have seen them today at Scottish caravan show. It looks a beauty. Just wondered if anyone knows about them.
If you purchased one you may regret it as you may have problems being accepted on many campsites as they look identical to caravans used by the travelling community.

Lord Munsterland Caravan. Well known German make, good build quality. Parts will be common to all makes of caravan, ie Alko or BPW chassis, interior parts etc, so can be serviced by any caravan workshop.
The large twin axle models are of course used by traveller community as are other well known German makes but LMC make all sizes of tourer starting from small 2berth upwards.
If they are being sold in UK by UK distributor then you can bet that prices will be total rip off compared with prices on continent.
According to LMC website here, only one LMC caravan dealer in UK, in Scotland.
does my head in this could be denied onto a campsite business, yet it's so true, campsites just don't like to accept the likes of lmc, hobby, ect. the site where I have mine on a seasonal won't accept a hobby or any other (typically german) make where the door is on the "opposite" side. shame really, as these type of manufacturer really know how to make a caravan appealing
So how do foreign caravanners get on then? There are plenty of Dutch & German caravanners over here in the summer. Cornwall is particularly popular with Germans.
If there is a big issue with owning and extensively using a German caravan over here I have yet to encounter it in fourteen years.
I have been told many times on forums there is, but not on sites or getting them insured.
Thanks for the advice.
The other van we liked was an elddis crusader tempest which is £3k more expensive. The LMC seems to have more wow factor but the elddis seems to be the safer option.
I think if one arrives in a very large twin axle caravan of any make towed behind a commercial vehicle the campsite owner might decide that your equipment is not suitable for his site.
Equally if you turn up in a small/med sized touring caravan of any make towed behind a Mondeo etc why should you be denied entry provided you meet other criteria, ie you are not a large single sex group etc?
Judging by what I read on here, the Elddis seems to be the far more dangerous option. I'd always go for German build quality.

Exactly my take on reading it was the "safer option".

As well is two words!

Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
HI Aldoscott I owned a Geist Caravan for 7 years from brand new bought from Campbells Caravans Preston. The van came with a lot of extras as standard and was solid as rock and really warm in winter. It was no more expensive than a Uk built van. LMC owned Geist caravans as the plate in the gas locker stated so as well as giving you the BPW chassis number ,tyre pressure, tyre sizes,Miro, Payload, MMTPLM, Shipping Length + width.
I never bought anything other than two brake cables (only one actually needed) and tyres. beside the gas refills. The fridge was Thetford aswell as the loo the cooker was spinoflo. The insect nets were black aluminum
so if you kept them down no one cold see in the van during daylight hrs. (Seizt) Oh yes the door was on the Uk side and came with 7n&s plugs which I changed to fit my 13 pin Skoda Octavia Go for it you wont be disappointed. PS I was never ever refused entrance to any Uk site on grounds of being a traveller or having a German van and no one ever tried to steal it even on a site where a UK van went walk abouts.

Whatever you buy, please be careful if you buy one of the 8ft 4ins or wider continental vans, they are simply too wide to access some of our narrow country lanes, and only today have we seen a very wide Hobby get stuck on a soft verge trying to negociate a back lane down to Carsington water.
The central roadway was just far too narrow for him, and he should have kept to the A and B class roads to reach his destination, rather than take a shortcut through Hulland back lanes.

It's funny how on these ever popular 'German caravan' threads all we ever get is that "they are too wide" "they are too big""campsites won't take'em" etc blah...
All German manufacturers make small caravans, small 2 berths & so on. In fact they make far more small caravans than they do large caravans. In fact UK makers make very few small caravans, most UK built caravans are medium/large. A tiny few German caravans are very large twin axles, these are the well used wrecks you see on UK ebay with a backdrop of Transit vans, mini diggers & 48kg Calor bottles in the listing photo.
Nobody uses these for touring, this is why owners of German caravans who are just normal middle class folk on holiday do not have any problem accessing UK sites because they have small/med sized German built caravans towed behind a late model car not a Transit van.
