So i've not been on here for ages due to the fact that we just aren't getting to use the van. So we made the decision to sell up and must admit I am gutted but it is the right thing to do. The kids don't want to go but are not old enough to leave on their own yet. We have decided to go to our favourite site, Fforest Fields one more time in April and then sell up.
Where is the best place to sell? I have only px before.
Should I sell it with everything included or sell things like the awning separately?

Hi James Wewent through that with our kids, and me working away decided to sell up, 18 Mth later new van for me and other half with fixed bed great with the grand kid. Now they all come again and should have bought a 6 berth van to have enough room lol. Your be back same as us and many more that have gone through this stage. As for selling, sell it as a complete outfit, we got ours like that for a 5 year old senator at the time. But maymake more splitting it, thats up to you. Put it in the free ads here and gumtree. Whatever you do good luck

Maybe sell the van and awing only?
But hang on to the 'bits & pieces' for now, as once the kids are old enough to look after themselves, you could then return to 'vanning' without the WHOLE out lay again...???

I would also sell everything separately. Don't mention to potential buyers of the van you have an awning and bits as they will want you to throw them in for free or at below their value. You'll be selling in peak season so should have no problem selling anything. Us vanners love buying loads of stuff we don't need.

This is what im dreading, and my oldest two have already hinted that they don't want to come in the van any more, but the younger 2 love it and don't want us to get rid.

It didn't matter to my parents whether we wanted to go camping or not. We simply did and staying home alone was out of the question. It wasn't a question that was asked!
In later years as teenagers though, we took it in turns to take one of our mates with us and that made everything a lot better.

Thanks for your views everyone. At the moment we will only use it for 1 maybe 2 weekends and not just due to kids but our own hectic diary, including starting a business. My thought process is to cash in and then get a fix bed in 3/4 years with all the mod cons etc. We always had older vans but hope to back in future!

I disagree with others I think its best to sell it complete the reason being all your kit you will have collected over time so some now will be old and almost worthless and what is good you need to advertise once the van is sold you will have ads out there for awning ,water bottles, ehu, mirrors, locks etc etc and you will be spending all your weekend at home waiting for the person who said he would come to find that he wont turn up, and those who do come will want everything cheaper obviously regardless of wheather you advertised item for a quid or a tenner. if you sell complete you just add the cost of the extras on

I agree with the above post and sell it as a complete package.
I did the same quite a few years ago when I sold the caravan I had when a relationship broke down, kept is all together and was sold at the full asking price (in cash) by a young couple who was starting off caravanning for the first time.
It meant we sold all in one go and they got everything they needed to just drive off and pitch up so was happy all round.

I think my intention to sell complete hopefully. Spoke to we buy any van yesterday and he did say they would only give a trade price but removes all the hassle, just unfortunately he is £2k short!

I am in the same dilemma as my daughter turns 16 this June and doesn't want to come in the van. My wife has things planned with her horse most weekends. Last year we managed only one weekend away and its not worth keeping the van just for the odd weekend.
My thoughts at the moment are to sell it and get a boat. I take the dog down to the marina for a walk and wonder if I might enjoy my time out on the sea.
