You know I get the feeling that it doesn't matter what people's good intentions are re AC units that there will always be one to blow it all down.
Some of the units could/would possibly be completely adequate for some peoples use.

How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Excellent result there then Steve. If you do take the plunge with one, can you let us know as I for one will be very interested.
Brilliant that even in Perth WA it IS fit for purpose, and no science or maths required.

I bought a Transcool system at Scottish caravan show. It's a rip off, DONT buy one of these. I was caught out JAMES BLUNT was the salesman who basically stole my money. It's a keep clear of product. I thought it would be great for the continent but it's something worth £3 that cost me £300. STAY AWAY
So things have got that bad for James Blunt that he has taken to selling merchandise at outdoor leisure shows.

We have a coolmycamper unit. Used it for the first time in France this year. We put in on mid afternoon for a few hours before our 2 year old went to sleep at 7. Worked wonderfully, we did not run it over night and had no problem with the electric tripping. It was very quiet and once you were about 8 foot from the outdoor unit you would not know it was running. The noise just disappeared in to the site noise. Not sure about when the site was quite tho all we could hear with the windows open was 2 people near by snoring loudly
We've been in the south of Spain for three weeks ... temps up tp 40 in thee shade ...
Found that getting the right balance of windows open, and a 'table-top fan', kept things reasonable , even in midday heat ..
Find shade ... get outdoors ... use pools ... drive somewhere with the car air-con on ... solved most problems.
At night, no covers or one sheet ... and the fan in quiet mode.
We have a domestic air con unit and it is keeping everything cool for us here in Spain at the moment. I have fitted an acrylic sheet with stick on Velcro over the window , with a hole cut to size for the hose vent. Outside there is little noise and we don; mind the noise of the fan at low setting,
We leave it running on auto (set at 23 degrees)and it is using around 2 euros of electric per day. So comfy and as we are leaving the van in Spain, necessary.

Sorry you wasted your money but at least you have confirmed the uselessness of portable evaporative coolers.
