Warming the van up the day before at home is a good tip, or we also have a small fan heater that we use with the heating on gas, till it warms up. Through the day we have the thermostat at around 20 - 22 degrees as we would at home, then we lower it to 14 degrees a couple of hours before we go to bed so the van cools down for sleeping and then it kicks in overnight if the temperature drops. Trial and error to find your preferred temperatures works best.

Bill,Wi-fi smart plug to turn your heating on when your not there, great idea, do you have to have your electric plugged in all the time when your not there, and how does it recieve the wi-fi signal.
i would of thought most campsites would have its wi-fi and all its other services turned off over the winter.
Sounds like a great idea, i would like to try out but how do i get the signal to the wi-fi plug??
