Sorry if this has been asked before. Whilst away last my smoke alarm went off a few times during the night. It was in the early hours when the temperature was extremely cold. Could the temp affect the alarm, or is it faulty? Thanks.

Our CO2 alarm went off due through the night due to fumes from a faulty battery. Our smoke alarm occasionally went off at random and refused to be reset, for reasons best known to itself - we replaced it and the new one does the same, so we're assuming it's something to do with where it is in the van (near the entrance door). If it's a nuisance we remove it and replace it later - would not leave it off overnight or if we left the van though Someone told us that cold and/or damp can cause the alarm to malfunction, but whether that's right I don't know.
