After a few years in the wilderness we are coming back to caravanning.
We have decided on a fixed bed as I don't want to make up beds anymore, and it will be mostly the two of us from now on.
We don't want brand new or to spend a fortune as we are also waiting for a new puppy and he will go with us.
It's so exciting and more vans are now coming on to the market so I hope we will soon be able to find one.
We go to Gran Canaria beginning of April so may wait until we get back but we definitely have the bug now.
See you on a site this year
Good luck with finding a caravan. We bought ours second hand from Kimberly caravans. They have been very good. We found there was damp around the window at the front. They have been very good and although it wasn't covered on the insurance because it was over 7 years old they assured us that they would cover it. They have been good to their word and have sorted it for us. With Kimberley you probably pay a bit more than buying privately but at least you are covered for a year. We did buy our first caravan privately. We were lucky because it was a really good van. We kept it 6 years we sold it in part exchange and it was 13 yrs old but still a lovely van. We wanted a 4 berth to be able to take the grandchildren away.
Best advice i can offer is,
before you part with your cash get a local caravan engineer to have a look ,i know this will cost BUT much better than buying a damp van which is always the danger and expensive to fix
We have just bought our (new to us) Sterckerman ... in Germany ... collecting in two weeks time ... can't wait!
The price of a comparable van in the UK is about three to five thousand more expensive.
We holiday on the continent, and store the van in France (185 euros a year) ... so it all made sense. But even buying over there and then bringing it back to the UK could offer a considerable saving.

Now they have all started coming with us again and a 4 berth fixed bed is a bit crowded for 5 and the dog lol
