Use thick cables to connect the terminals as described. Either make them up yourself using at least 20amp automotive cable & the large 20amp crimp connectors or buy some from Halfords, here & here.

JUst one thing to be aware of though. The batteries will tend to equalize so if one battery is not as efficient as the other it will tend to bring the good battery down to its level . if you are fitting new batteries it needs to be both of the same type / make
