I can't see any reason why you couldn't do it though you'd probably have to glue it(and probably hand sew it) as I doubt you could get all that material under a sewing machine "arm", (though it's amazing just what you can get under the arm of a sewing machine with a little creative thinking). You would have to make sure that whatever you used was UV stabilised as otherwise it would deteriorate/go cloudy/brittle, long before the rest of the cover
