Don't know if this is true but,a friend visited last night with a story about a workmate having six different people turn up at the weekend to view the caravan advertised on Gumtree that she was selling at a bargain price, each and everyone had paid a deposit of £100 (some people never learn)to the seller, the workmate was gobsmacked as she didn't own a caravan and never had,so it looks as though someone had used her address for their scam, just wondered if anyone else had heard of a similar thing
I guess caravan was advertised at absurdly low price & buyers were motivated by greed. It's a variation of the usual scam where scammer wants full payment upfront for caravan, sight unseen & instead cons a number of people into paying a smaller amount to secure non existent caravan which might bring better results than asking for £1000s.
