I have just bought a 2009 swift challenger the waterpump is inside the van and really noisey its spoiling the van to be honest anyone got any ideas of whats going on? the dealer said this is normal as on board pump are noisey
Our Bailey has an onboard water pump. I think it is noisier than the external but that may be because its located under the front seats. The bailey handbook does say if it is really noisey check that its still secured properly
Vibration with making contact with some internal surface of the tank is the usual culprit. If you can get easy access to the exit pipe from the tank. There may be 2 pipes with one going to the water heater and one direct to the cold taps if the pump is an interna one. Check if it makes a noise on hot and or cold. If you can isolate which feed it is then it is the actual pipe making the noise through contact. Jiggle the pipe and keep trying. If noise from both hot and cold taps then pump contact is at fault so try to move the pump by adjusting/pulling the pipes. Check any accessible pup securing fixings which may be loose or will allow movement of the pump to a quieter position.
Internal pump noise is always more intrusive than that from an outside pump in a container on the ground. Last but not least the pump may be faulty or there is an air Bubble in it. Remove pump and refix it before trying again. Others may have the same problem and may be of more assistance.
A neighour has said his van has a pump external to the tank so he had to check pump fixings for any looseness and consider if possible fitting an insulation mat between pump and caravan floor or bulkhead which improved his.He used part of a rolly sleep mat

I know it is stating the obvious, but it is only going to be noisy when it operates, so apart from showering that should be quite limited in duration. If it is a pressure operated one that cuts in periodically when no tap is being used then simply switch it off when not needed.
The noisy and how to reduce it will depend on type used and how it is mounted. Too solid a mounting is a clear route to transmitting noise into the structure and that operating as a sounding board. If possible try it without any fixing and laid on something like folded up bubble packaging. That gives you a goal to experiment with lightly fixing to minimise the noise transmission.
I have got a 2007 Swift Challenger which I've had from new and the pump has always been noisy, the dealer at the time said it is quite normal for inboard pumps
It's been working fine for the last 9 years so you have to live with it, sometimes it's noisier than others and at it's worst it sounds like a machine gun.
The forums were full of posts about it at the time and some recommended fitting extra rubber pads under the feet
Edited to add, in case you don't already know, when it comes to winterise your van there is an inline mesh filter just before the pump, no matter how much you drain the system down, water will still remain in the filter which will crack it if it freezes so unscrew the bowl at the bottom of it and empty out the water
Our pump is very noisy . I'm just glad we don't need it on for long .
We have asked many times about it and had it adjusted but it's still the same . Also it seems to vibrate .
We just grumble and put up with it .
