Any thoughts on this? Have decided to put our little freedom into regular secured storage after this weekends fun and games trying to turn her around in the field at the bottom of our garden and getting her stuck on the hill (neighbours 4 x 4 came in mighty useful). We have a few options for caravan storage in our area, a couple of which are caSSOA and a couple which aren't (although one used to be it seems). Husband things we would be ok without it as long as there is good security so currently considering looking at Haggs Farm Caravan Storage (who used to be Bronze) but aren't on the website anymore but do have availability at a good price.
Probably depends on how secure the non caSSOA sites are in your area and how you personally feel how secure your pride and joy would be. You also usually get a discount from insurance companies when using gold sites.

I would also ask the storage site you are looking at why they are no longer caSSOA registrered.
Yes, I did wonder about that. They were originally only a bronze member, but I think they have changed hands, so we will ask them if we go at the weekend to have a look around. They do have people who live on site, and dog patrols at night from what he told me over the phone, so we shall see.
Im not sure my backgarden will be any more secure than the storage site to be honest, certainly the poor little thing will probably get more damage getting in and out - totally miscalculated the size of the wee mite, and more to the point, our own strength!

We'll have a good look around if we go at the weekend. The storage site used to be a bronze, not a gold so maybe the discount wouldn't have been forthcoming, but we will talk to the Caravan Club Insurance and see what they say. Thank you.
I moved my van a couple of years ago from a bronze to a gold after a few vans were broken into. The amount of discount I got through camping and caravanning club insurance was far greater than the increased storage cost.

The problem is finding a gold site with availability near us. One has put me on her waiting list and the other hasn't got back to me yet. Looking at a radius of 10 miles from home and there are only two gold and one bronze. But that's a good thought regarding the insurance savings. Thank you.
a caravan with every conceivable security item, 2x wheel locks, hitch lock and alarm was stolen last week from a house not far from the town i live. apparently they dragged it through fields to take it.
i brought my caravan out of storage and it is on my drive to get it packed up for friday. if it did get stolen off my drive would the insurance pay out? i believe its safer at the storage that has security patrols, cameras and several locked gates. there are also far more desirable caravans in the compound than mine to take.

where abouts in west yorkshire are you?
We are near Ossett and the three close to us are all well sited as they are Not only close to us but also to motorway junctions. We are on the waiting list for the two gold ones.
Some insurance companies refuse to insure if you are on a working farm. We use gold and it does give savings on insurance. Are there any sites that do storage near you? Good luck with your search.

Good point, thanks Chris. I have just been browsing the site for one of the storage facilities that we are on the waiting list for (Gold) near us and I've noticed right at the bottom of their terms and conditions, that storage is for 6 months only. Is this standard? We would need storage for 12 months - or do they usually do a summer and a winter storage under different contracts?
We pay for 12 months at a time. Maybe it's like some rental tenancies where you renew every6 months? Some storage at campsites do seasonal storage not sure about storage only places though.
Very happy to report that we have now a 6 month contract with a Gold Cassoa site right next to the motorway near our home - absolutely bob on for us. Its a rolling 6 month contract, so you can have winter storage too if you want. Insurance were great, and we have a great deal through Adrian Flux.
Thank you everyone for your comments x
