Hi everyone, not new to camping and caravaning but havnt done anything for a couple of years.
So I bought a trailer tent which needs some DIY , nothing I can't do but the misses has scrunched her nose up at it SO. I'm looking for a caravan with a fixed bed, any recommendations.
Most manufacturers do fixed bed versions so it may be worth having a look at local caravan dealers to get an idea of what may be suitable for your needs.
You also need to consider the towing limits of your car and possibly your licence if you did your test after 1997. How big is your budget?

Hi Rob , thanks for your reply, I have passed my b+e so no worries there and towing doesn't bother me as I've been towing foe years, forward and backwards lol.
We are not sure of budget yet, we are not sure whether to go down the finance route of stick with cash, cash wise would be up to around 4k at a guess.
In that price range you would be looking at some of the early fixed bed models around 2001 onwards. For 6 or 7k you would be looking at something like our old Bailey Ranger 460/4 from 2006 ish which was very light at 1184 kg. Have a look at caravan finder where they show layouts and caravans for sale with each layout, that would give you an idea of models and prices.
We have had a quick look in highbridge caravans and looked on internet , so many places to go etc I just don't know where to start.
The misses has also said she like the island bed too.
What about things to not have etc.
if highbridge is local or close to you then have a look here. We bought a 2008 Bailey Pageant Burgundy from them in July. We had the caravan delivered to where we store the van and they do seem to be cheaper than highbridge. They do a hand over and give you a free 1 or 2 night stay on their campsite to get used to the van and iron out any faults you may find or anything you are unhappy about.
They were good with us as we had a trade in we got a reasonable price for it and even before we committed to buying it they had reserved the van until we made our decision

Haha, it's a small world. We have relatives that have sited there, we did pop in last week but the sales were closed.
small world indeed. We have our van stored on a campsite in Glastonbury and always looked in at Highbridge and Northam Farm caravan sales. Normally just window shopping.
Last summer we saw the Bailey Pageant Burgundy and really liked it. We always said out next van must have a fixed bed as we were getting tired of having to make up the bed before getting in to it.
The salesman we dealt with was a chap called Dan really nice and helpful. In fact we were back up in March and they had an open day and he remembered us.
When we had our stay to make sure everything worked we had 1 problem. The tv socket didn't work. Dan came down to have a look at it and spent the next couple of hours along with 2 guys from the work shop tracing the fault. Turns out the previous owners had connected a different cable to the socket when they connected the right cable the socket worked fine.

That's good service. We will pop up and have a look one weekend.
Very frustrating, searching and searching and unless I click on every one of them not everyone says on their advert that they have fixed bed etc.
Makes the search take so much longer.
take a look here, click on the berth you want and will come up with type of layouts, look at them then look round for something in your price range.
May need to search auto trader etc but at least it may help you.
