Hi,
We are new to using a caravan (for many years previously we camped, then a trailer-tent and then a Motorhome) ... we've bought a caravan and are now buying the essential extras.
There are just the two of us and we wondered what capacity fresh water barrel and waste water tank we should buy. It's just a small caravan and we don't want to buy unnecessarily large items. Any suggestions?
We have a 40ltr and 50ltr water container, so when one runs empty in the rain or first thing in the morning, you can just swoop it over to the full one and then fill it up later. Waste water 40ltr wastemaster.
If you are not going to use the shower in the caravan then maybe Fiamma roll tanks might fit the bill! there are fresh (blue) and waste (grey). I think they are about 20ltrs ish
The larger they are the longer they will last between fill/empty. The downside is that the larger so is the weight you are lugging around. Before we started to motorhome I was starting to find the 40lt Wastemaster quite heavy although strangly the 40lt Aquaroll was fine, proably just a case of weight distribution.
The trick is lifting properly: Lean back on the aquaroll and you'll find little actuall muscle power is required to either lay it down or stand it upright - plus, you can leave it on it's side and pump from the side.
Same with the wastemaster; it's designed so that most of the weight is on the wheels not the handle.
We, a couple, find a fill lasts 24 hours, including washing and washing-up (but not showering).
------------- Camping Gear expands so as to fill the space available for its transportation.
With our small, caravan small car combi we are very conscious of weight and space so we stick to just 1 29ltr Aquaroll. We have to fill up once a day but thats no hardship.
