My caravan insurance will shortly be due for renewal. I'm interested in what other users look for in a policy. My current policy, from one of the market leaders, was bought in haste when I bought the caravan, not knowing really what I should be looking for in a policy. We all hope that we'll never need to call on our policy providers, but I'm not entirely sure what should and shouldn't be in a caravan policy, and what the key factors are that affect the cost.
Any thoughts and comments are welcome.

I get new for old insurance cover not market value, premium goes up every year but it is insured for the cost of a new caravan. Compass 2014 model purchased in 2015, insured for the 2016 price. Also to keep cost down our personal belongings (clothing etc.) are on our house insurance, only caravan equipment, awning, etc., etc. is on the caravan insurance, again new for old. Covered for theft, damage, EU use and have a £100.00 excess. Price depends on the total value to be insured, caravan, equipment, personal belongings. I do not take out legal advice cover, another cost, that's on the house insurance.

Either new for old, or agreed value. My last 'agreed value' saved me nigh on 2 grand when the 'van was written off. They (the CC&C) were all set to pay me out £5750, till i pointed out my cover was for £7600. They settled without a quibble. And, on renewal with a much newer 'van, the premium has risen about £60. Well worth it.

I'm also interested . We're getting a new to us caravan soon . We've never bothered with insurance for our last one mainly because of all the restrictions ( we store it on a farm) . We've just about got our heads round the cost of insuring old for new values and awning but I'm really struggling with contents value .We have been campers for years ,as well as caravanners and have accumulated all manner of stuff.
husband's initial estimate of £500 was queried by very helpful person on the phone . using towsure catalogue as a guide ,I've now got a figure nearer £1400.! What do others think? Any advice gratefully received
