We paid, not much extra, took porch down after two days as too windy and didn't dream of asking for a refund (!) and had a great break. Just wondered why!

As I said circular argument. One could equally ask why should a small tent pay as much as a large caravan/awning/dog/etc? Anyway, thread success because you now know why & of course you should have asked for a refund on the days your awning was not erected. It works both ways.

We simply avoid sites that do charges for all the extras as think many are unfair, but every now and then I slip up and book.

If they say they charge more for an awning I look for other sites. Lots of great ones which just charge a one off fee. Do the same for the dogs if we can as well.
