Hi
We are looking at getting decking put down at our seasonal pitch. We would like to set the level of the decking half way up the wheel, the problem we envisage is that the correct size awning would be to big (buying a new one)
Any thoughts/experiences would be appreciated
If you put the decking halfway up the wheel you will have to have quite a big step at the entrance to the awning. This may mean that the awning door is too low to be able to use it easily.

When we were seasonal most people used a 2 x 2 criss cross frame with strong ply on top. We used the standard caravan step. We used to take a bit off each corner so the frame sat easily. The awning would be pegged to the ground over the wood. Decking would be quite high, I think if you put the awning on top of that it may be too tall for the van.
Our van is on a seasonal pitch that has a large decking area, longer than the van at both ends. Because of this the awning is fixed to the boards rather than the ground. If you are looking at fixing the awning in this way then, as long as you have a step to get up onto the decking, I cannot see you having a problem. Obviously the usual awning that you would use for your van would be too big so you would need to take your own measurements.
