Hi all,
Not been on for a long time.got a newer van yesterday and unfortunately damaged it at my home.basically there was an unsavoury person lurking about the garage site that took my attention and unfortunately caught the side of the van on an electricity box cause a gouge out the side.
The van is grp sides so hoping it can be repaired easily.what I'm wondering is should ir go to a caravan place or a good body shop.

Depending on damage, scrape?, gouge? , I'm sure a good car body filler (Davids Isopon or similar) will do an excellent job, the difficult bit (for me) would to match the panel colour , blend in or spray the whole side. Having suitable premises for a large item like a caravan would be an issue too. Got to be worth a professional repair if it's fairly new. How about claiming on your insurance ?

Get it repaired soon - If it's broken the skin you will get water in - hence damp in the van which is hard to get rid of.
Perhaps you could put some duct tape over the area to stop water ingress in the short term.

It will be cheaper to take it to a body shop. Caravan shops will want to replace the side. Unless of course as Softguy suggested - your insurance company will pay out.

Unfortunately I hadn't got it insured yet as I wanted to get it home and get all details first before insuring it.😨

Fortunately it's kept in a large shed so kept dry for now.heading to a body shop tomorrow for a quote and advice on repair.

Thanks again for replies and help.
