I have a Status 315 and booster pack on my van,the reception is not that great. I have tried new leads ect and several retunes with no luck.
Do I try an old fashion aerial on a pole? replace the above with a new one? or try another option like the 430 vision plus.Any advice greatly welcomed.
Thanks in advance
The Status 315 is trying to receive a signal from the TV transmitter in one direction. It is also receiving spurious signals and noise from all other directions.
Add an amplifier to boost the weak signal from the low gain antenna, you also boost the noise. The TV cannot handle all this noise.
Boosted crap is still crap
Get a cheap log periodic aerial and fit it to a pole on the A frame, point it the same direction as house aerials in the area

If the TV coaxial cable runs parallel with any other cables then this can transfer interference which I found out after receiving some useful advice. My aerial is also a Status 315 omni-directional but it did improve the TV reception so it's not the difference in aerial types that sorted my problem. However, the area location can have some influence on the signal anyway.
Thanks Tango 55. At the coax incoming point there are no other wires. I have tried bypassing the aerial socket on the Caravan and gone straight from the Television to the booster and signal not any better. The aerial is closer to the front of the caravan but is not obstructed.
Also check to see if the pinnacle (pointed piece on top of the aerial dish) has come loose as it is an integral part of the antenna and critical to the performance.
Good info here. I got the one they recommended on a pole. Been good in most places though also have used the connection provided on sites a lot too. http://www.aerialsandtv.com/touringaerials.html
The Vision Plus 430 is a neat solution that will preform reasonably well and can be purchased with an also neat pole fixing system.
If your Status 315 and booster has its logo in a red/orange colour as opposed to purple this can be used as a booster for the 430. The Purple earlier type can not be as these and the aerial used a differing system placing the amplifier in the aerial itself. You can't mix red and purple booster and aerials either way around.
If your "booster" is a purple one I recommend you buy a Fringe Easytune booster as opposed to Vision Pluses booster; I found this performed well and has a good signal strength display. In many locations you will IMO need a booster.
I also found that 4G mobile signals, especially strong ones, can interfere with digital tv signals, so I have bought a filter but haven't been away in the van yet to try, search for LABGEAR CHANNEL 59 FILTER
I also feel 4G signals are a problem and have looked at filters. Do you use a normal Aerial or one like the Vision Plus 430? Am I correct do LABGER make Aerials?
