What do you use as covers in summer in the van. Our sleeping bags will be far to hot. Do we look for thin ones or try 4.5 duvets but as we use the front bench seats I'm not sure if they would stay on.

We use to use sleeping bags but I opened them and put them in duvet covers . This was on the side seats . So we could lay on half for the bottom then the other half over the top of us . If it was too warm just push it back . Add throws when very cold .
We now have duvets since having fixed beds .
We are now down sizing back to sleeping on side seats but shall continue to use duvets.

One Duvet to lay on and the other to cover us, they are both different weights so we can switch them over when necessary as the weather changes

We use a summer duvet, with a couple of throws if we get cold. But we are fair weather caravanners.

We use 4.5 tog duvet all year round. Never been cold in the van, if anything I was too hot when we were away a few weeks ago.

The south of France can get a little too hot even for a duvet. We just use a mattress topper to sleep on with a loose sheet over us..

I've just made the switch from duvets to sleeping bags, lovely and cosy, and I open it up when I'm too warm
