Can anyone help please, my caravan battery has been flat and I have not put the mains on to try and charge the battery but the battery condition indicator is dancing from one end to the other, is this normal.

The battery probably won't re-charged if you have allowed the it to go flat. The battery condition indicator is only a basic guide to the condition of the battery so you need to conduct a proper check with a voltage meter and see what the true voltage reading is.
