My wife and I want to start touring from late October to early March, either in the UK or Europe. We are experienced caravanners with some 40 years touring but have never undertaken long periods of camping. The longest was 5 weeks and that was most successful and memorable. The main reason for this thread is to find out if anybody knows of any publications that offer information on prolonged stay or Winter stay sites in UK /EU also some advice on insurances, motor/health would be helpful.
Many thanks for your advice Jazzi.
We have addressed these issues.
1/ As we live in a gated community the insurance company are in agreement with a small additional premium.
2/ Our GP has no problems with a four month supply of medication and all being well, if need should be, will allow a relative to collect and post afurther one or two months supply. The only request he has that I have the regular six month check up.
This is something we are also considering and one thing we have discovered is that we need to ensure our holiday insurance is covering us for the extended trip.
The two clubs also do "winter sun rallies" but this is not really touring as we would probably want to move around a bit more.
In case you haven't discovered it the excellent site search facility here allows you to select "open all year" as an option.
The refilling or changing of gas bottles is also something we are looking into, and I fancy the "Safefil" option, but not too sure about refiling in France/Spain.
