Hi guys,
Just come away and are of grid so using the 12v for the TV. Random things happening as to when I plug the TV into the 2 pin socket there is no power until I connect the TV aerial. It's like the aerial is completing the circuit but surely that's not right? Any ideas on this?

Regards

Matt

I use my socket with my TV but must admit the aerial is always plugged in so no idea if it would work with the aerial unplugged.

If it works give it try.

I think that there is a poor negative return from the 12 v supply and it gets a better 'earth' via the braiding on the co-ax aerial cable. I would check all the connections including the 12 volt socket.

Our telly came to life by using ME as an aerial.

I had fitted a plug to one end of the co-ax and had it in the telly. While i was baring the other end to fit the second plug, the telly tuned in. If i let go, the signal went.

That's common Mick, you are acting as the aerial.

Hi thanks for all the replies. I think it's definitely a problem with the 12v socket as the TV sound kept cutting out and the battery was fully charged so can't blame it on a weak battery. Now connected the TV directly to the battery and now issues at all. Luckily I have a 12 month warranty on the van so hopefully get it sorted out.

What model of pageant is it. We bought a 2008 Pageant Burgundy in September from Northam Farm Caravans. Had problems with our co-ax socket when we picked it up. They spent hours checking it and eventually found out the main problem was someone had added a second co-ax and attached that to the socket but also there was a problem with the 12v and co-ax not working together. Not sure how they fixed it but the co-ax works as said above never use the12v socket

So today I managed to find a great caravan shop near where I'm staying in Charmouth and they had a new 12v socket and aeria attachment. Fitted it easily and now all working great. The old socket was corroded when I took it out plus they hadn't even had any screws to hold the wires in place. Now time to relax, drink more cider and get even more sun burnt. Thanks all for the replies. Matt
