I know sites charge for awnings and porch awnings, but I haven't seen a fee quoted for sun canopies. Does anyone know if they charge for sun canopies on caravans on sites?

I was wondering it there was a general rule anyone knew of, no specific site in mind. I guess there isn't though.

Most sites will class a canopy as an awning as some folks add sides and a front which effectively turn this into an awning. Been on one site where one person added on sides and a front to his canopy after booking in and paying for unit only. Site owners not amused and demanded extra awning payment. Told me afterwards that lots of folks try this on and pleaded ignorance as canopy is not possibly an awning. Camper given the choice of paying up or leaving. Simply ask at booking in time or when reserving pitch.

Simple ask at site, ultimately its down to the site owner regardless of opinions on whether they should.

you then factor in your overall nightly payments and work out if that site works for you?

Never had that problem on the continent (don't camp in the UK) ... I do find it somewhat bizarre!

I would brazen it out. You have booked the pitch and if the owner subsequently comes round to ask for more money (which I doubt) you will have the opportunity for a full and frank discussion as to his parentage.

Heres a new one for me, bearing in mind we tow a caravan..........we have been charge £1 per night for the tow car, not a major amount but I will be asking how they expected us to get there if we didn't have a tow car.
