Apologies if this has been posted previously but,I have been looking at Mad springs ((the type that fits inside the existing ones))so wonder if anyone has them fitted and what their opinion is of them,I am considering having them fitted to my car as we have monthly breaks and do quite a few miles towing,as our 'van is quite heavy, any aids are a help, opinions very welcome.
i have a mitsubishi outlander and sagging rear suspension is a common fault anyway but a modest nose weight (60kg) would make the car look very unhealthy indeed.
i contacted MAD and they say they supply their kits to Mitsubishi when they supply outlanders to the likes of Npower, the police and the highways agency who will be towing with their cars.
i fitted the springs and they do improve the rear end height and even with a nose weight of 85kgs. the outlander should handle 100kgs.
the car also looks level when solo. my car had only 15k miles on it when i bought it and the rear end already looked lower than it should.
MAD say they do not effect the handling of the car solo but i think they do stiffen up the ride but not so much as you would want to take them off.
the other thing is when i go over speed bumps the rar suspension now creaks, i am putting this down to the MAD assistors moving in their mountings.
there have been no problems with the MOT yet.
the other cheaper option is to buy heavy duty road springs and change the springs. these were about £60 for the pair but how much more heavy duty are they? the MAD kit was £120.

We had them fitted (at Towcraft in Blackheath)to our Mondeo and did notice quite a big improvement. In fact, when the car was written off, we had them fitted to the replacement too. We don't tow any more so don't need them now.
I had them on my previous tow car, a Mazda 6 estate, and noticed no difference solo and a huge improvement when towing. I did wait until the car was out of warranty though in case that caused a problem.
