Great idea makes a lot of sense to me ...only thing that comes to mind is cost of manufacture and would it attract more interest in calls for caravan MOT's, which i don't find a bad idea

it would increase the floor height and therefor roof height of the van as the wheels could not be recessed into the floor.
this has safety issues especially for kids. BUT they would be no higher than 5th wheel outfits, which having seen one on a site recently was MONSTEROUS
------------- if your not living life on the edge your taking up tooo much room

caravans with the axle in the centre all have cut outs in the floor to allow wheels to recess so the suspension to operate

The front axle would have to have room for the axle to turn so you can go round corners. Maybe OK in US but not Devon & Cornwall.

Why would the AXLE have to turn?
The axle doesn't turn on your car.......... does it?
