I am researching use of standard tabletop fridge in the awning. I see some threads, but wanted to know suggested settling time such a fridge would require after transportation and how soon in advance would fridge need to be wound down before travelling home?

Been using one for many years. TBH we have never let it settle any longer than it takes to put up the awning - so about 20-30 minutes - and never been a problem BUT we do travel with it in the car not the caravan.

Any thoughts on problems with water in fridge on journey home? I've moved fridges before that tend to dump water all over kitchen floor when tipped...

Same here. We travelled with ours in the car boot and set it up as soon as we arrived then turned it on as soon as we were set up. We turned it off on the morning of departure then put a tea towel in the bottom to catch any drips. Never had any problems.

Never had a problem with ours (7 years) ... always plug and do as soon as it is set up.
Never had any water problems ....

No water problems here either - you do have to be sensible and defrost before packing up!

Ours is switched on as soon as we arrive on site too, none of this 'settling down' stuff.

I think manufacturers only say it to 'cover their arses' if you have a problem with a new fridge you've just bought and switched straight on...

And as for the water, ours hasn't been on long enough on trips (so far), to have an 'ice / water' issue...
