The front GRP panel on my Abbey Vogue has gone dull over time and completely lost any shine it used to have.
I have tried Auto Glym super resin polish and various liquid polishes but I can not get a shine back in to the front panel. I don't want to keep rubbing it with polishes that may cut into or remove the surface for fear of wearing it down.

Has anybody successfully restored the shine to a GRP panel and what did you use?

We used a company called Tourershine who restore caravans and motorhomes. The sides of our 2008 Bailey were really dull and streaked when we brought it last year, we tried everything to get the shine back and wasted many hours polishing etc but to no avail :( We used Tourershine and our caravan now looks like new.

I used them and what a waste of money I had him back there were stripe marks on the front which he couldn't remove after trying twice. I got rid of them and all they use in any case is Autoglym super resin and the sides of vans are not difficult to clean yourself if you can be bothered grp on the other hand is not

Thats the stuff that I used Jeff but then I bought their Ultimate Compound which I thought worked better and then I bought their Glaze and I am very satisfied with the results . I still use Autoglym shampoo to wash the van expensive but good and the super resin is okay for the sides as it is non abrasive

It's not powdery as in flaking away or anything like that but it does have a grainy feel to it as you rub your hand over it. I don't have pictures but will get some.

I used 3m fibreglass restorer & wax and it worked a treat.
£15 to £20 per bottle i think.

At the caravan show a few years ago there was a stall where they were demonstrating a caravan cleaning product. The typical Indian tonic salesman. But we did buy based on his results on the items he was cleaning. £20 for a large tub. Guess what it works it removes very hard to get rid of marks and leaves a lasting shine. Now my friends have bought some and have used it on caravans cars etc. The product is called PAMPERVAN and is ecologically sympathetic to the environment.

Only thing I would say about any cleaning product that isn't made specifically for caravans is that the paint on a caravan is much much thinner than cars (and I would imagine boats)

And looking at the paste you've linked too is that it is some sort of rubbing compound, which will remove a very thin layer of paint. All good and well for a car, but not so great for a caravan.

Boats have a gel coat which is a thick shell rather than paint. The compound does rub away the surface. All GRP should have a gel coat surely and the question was about GRP finished caravans.

Don't know if the paint on a GRP caravan is different to a conventional caravan.

Suppose the best idea would be to try the compound on an inconspicuous area and see what happens.
