People would probably be able to give you more useful answers if you posted the make and model of your alarm.

Alarms maybe built in but they are not made by the caravan manufacturer and different systems maybe used from one van to the next depending on supply and demand and design criteria and not forgetting the cost.

If your alarm is IDM 1, 2 or 3 I can give you a copy of instruction`s, it`s probably IDM 1 as is mine for the same year van.

The image is just the key pad which will be remote from the alarm box itself, whose location you will have to track down. Sometimes the alarm box has its own charger, similar to a mobile phone type, so may not be too far from a mains socket. Ther might be a charging jack on the box.

Since the alarm has not been used, and is 1996, the back up battery in the alarm box will bot be serviceable, since they have a life of 5-7 years like domestic alarms.

You will need to take the box apart - it might be pop riveted together - to establish what replacement battery you need. You can find these online - I have done a few this way, and are not expensive. The default is typically 1234, hopefully unchanged

Bird man iv read that post days ago that's what makes me think its not a IDM alarm tried all that stuff using the hash and star keys but nothing :(

Chrisn7 im sure the alarm is run off the big battery because when switched to 12v it lights up when i mess about with it , So don't think its anything to do with the backup battery if there is one , I can replace that for £10 but want to make sure the alarm works first need a wiring diagram to see if there is a box and charger for the alarm or even a backup battery i cant find anything except the motion sensor and the keypad and the wiring goes through the caravan loom and i dont want to split all they wires :( if anyone has the same alarm or caravan they could tell me what i need to know then i could buy parts to fix it my self its just trying to find the name or who makes it :(

It may charge up off the main caravan battery, but it may have a backup also. If the backup is dead then it may not switch on to save false alarms.

After stripping out panels in the caravan i found the back box for the alarm in the bottom of the wardrobe hidden under the electric box in the toilet BCA makes the alarm circuit board it has a blown diode im now looking for the same alarm from the same van or another universal alarm that i can fit that i can use the same key pad with , It has a ten pins connector on the end are these all standard plugs on hard wired alarms ? The connector and motion sensor are both ten pins , The small backup batter is goosed as well only showing 12v when the charger is connected but i can get one off ebay for a tenner :)

These may repair cheaper than installing new.
