Wonder if any of you can help? Made the mistake of buying an Abi Sprinter and have now discovered the company no longer exists!
We are desperately seeking new rear light clusters and drawing a blank. Any ideas where we might manage to source these? We've spent hours online and getting nowhere... they measure 32cm x 7cm approx and aren't wrap around... The innards are very corroded and need replacing but the covers are fine...
dismantle your lights and take the innards to either a caravan breaker or a dealer, it should be possible to get replacements, okay a wee bit of engineering might be required. plan B is to get a trailer board and just run the cable along the chassis, you wont have running lights on the front and sides (perfectly legal, but handy if you are towing in the dark
plan C is to go for a full rewire of the lights, run the cable along the chassis with the splits for the running lights going inside, means drilling the floor and having wiring visible inside the van
Hopefully plan A will work as the innards are pretty straight forward and pretty boshable (been theere etc) even if it means a bit of fabrication
We are having a similar issue with our Abi Marauder, been looking since we've had it (2 years) and although they work, they are cracked and tired and we wanted to replace them but haven't found any yet.
We've just discovered though that some of the other Abi models (450CT etc....) of the same era (1990) have some shared parts so in the process of finding what other models parts might fit to give us more options when looking.
IIRC you can convert them with generic Jokon units but come with No. Plate lights and ours already have separate ones and we prefer to keep it original.
Hi, I also have a Sprinter, the rear lights disintegrated!!! I replaced mine with a pair off eBay, if you haven't replaced them yet I can send u pics of mine and the link on eBay to the lights that will fit the van
Maintaining an old caravan is not an exact science. Any similar trailer lights will do the job. Unscrew the old lights making a note of wire connections. Fill screw holes with sealant. Connect up & screw new light holders in place.
Run a bead of non setting caravan sealant around back of light holder before screwing down to seal to bodywork & put some sealant around screws before screwing in to ensure water cannot get in.
It's hardly a 'mistake' buying an ABI. They are one of the better makes of older caravan. Notice how many are still around. It's unlikely current caravan makers would offer spares for their 20odd yr old product.
