Is anybody able to help me, I have bought my caravan, she is an Alpine Sprite CI Compact GI 1983, rooflight was broken when moved, I have tried everywhere to get a replacement but because of her age I cannot get one to fit as she has a re4ctangle shaped rooflight with rounded edges :(, I really need to find someone in my area that could cut out the roof to fit a modern one, I am a total novice and do not think I can do this, I need a mobile caravan repair person..does anyone have any suggestions? as I have googled everything, spoke to different companies and all are too far away...please let me kknow if you can think of anyone, we have done our best to bloke the holes up as both the roof light and the dome are damages ( you can fit three fingers in the holes) I am devastated.. Thank you
Is there a firm locally that does van conversions or fits windows into vans
Perhaps you could get a new rooflight, tow it to them and they cut the hole.
Not great I know .
Also ,I have put this company on here a lot recently.
Caravan Centre Blaenavon South Wales.
They are a huge caravan breakers and do mail order.
They might have your rooflight.Definitely worth giving them a call.
Good luck.

How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
I had the exact same problem with my caravan. As an older model, no new roof light would fit so I bought the nearest size I could find to the old one off eBay.
I removed the broken one, measured the new one and marked out the area that needed to be cut. I then re-measured it before using a jigsaw to cut it. I added some wooden batons between the roof and ceiling for support and then screwed the new roof light into position and sealed it.
It took less than an hour and wasn't half as scary as I was expecting! Go for it!!
Well good luck, and i am sure you will get to enjoy some happy memories in your new van.
If you are a complete novice it helps to keep a diary and note things you should have brought but didn't,things you could improve and where you stayed etc. Then read it when you get home.We still do it after many years.
I can assure you ,you will meet a lot of nice people on your travels and most campers ,be it caravans ,tents or motorhomes are always willing to help.So never be scared to ask.
Looking forward to reading your first site review.
Enjoy!.
This company will send a courier for your old window and then will make you a new one.

Thank you all for your advice, I have E Mailed some of the firms you have suggested and phoned ECCO, sorry I did not mean to repeat myself I was looking for an unusual shaped rooflight at first, I have tried breakers all over the country with no luck, I have been advised to get a 400x400 but I have contacted Ecco and hopefully they will reply. I have looked up some Van conversion companies in my area of Cambridgeshire< i have found a few, although they are for VW vans . also I am a bit useless with working out how to log back in to the forum.
