I loved my brightstar but i must say it was the dampest van i have ever owned it had damp everywhere except for the floor, god knows why they had to make the roof out of 3 sections just more seams to leak, i think they take a while to show the damp because of the wood effect wall panels they disguise it quite well. good luck

The first van we bought turned out to not only be damp but soggy! I pulled it apart and with the help of my very handy brother in law put it back together, when we had finished the van looked much more modern and the pride within me was amazing.
My point is it's probably not the end of the world, enjoy giving your piece of freedom on wheels the love and attention it needs, there is so much information on line to help you along the way, the sooner you fix it up the sooner you are out and about.

There is a bit of damp behind cupboards etc and in the shower but all very solid it seems. Not bad for £300

Don't know anything about your van but when we got ours (1990 Abi Marauder) a couple of years ago the first thing we did was clean it, then cleaned it again....then again, until it felt fresh and then added some of our own personality, we 'feel' like it's ours now and not the 2 previous owners it had before.

You may already have done that but we are still tinkering so get used to reading forums for tips and advice.

Enjoy!

After you have cleaned it - If you put new carpets in the van - It will seem like a new caravan.

As for the damp - You will have to go over the outside of the van with a fine tooth comb - look for anywhere water can get in and seal it.

Once you have sorted out the "holes" it will take a long time to dry out - so don't expect it to dry out within a few days.

Mind you - the damp could be because it has not been used for a long time. Buy some of those damp traps - cheap from the pound stores or you could hire an extractor.

Opening the windows on a dry day in summer is a pretty good way to dry it out as long as the leaks have been sealed.
