Hi, heading down to devon in couple of weeks, after looking at map to avoid road works which Iam told are on M5 thinking of leaving M42 at jct3 and taking A435 and A46 to join M5 at jct9. anyone towed this route or should I just stick with M42 to M5. any advice or tips welcome. thanks AL

Yes I have towed that route a couple of times when we visited a campsite just before junction 9 of the M5 near Shrewsbury. Time wise it's a little longer than going M42/M5 due to several roundabouts but can confirm that the road is suitable for towing.

I made this journey the other day as I do fairly often and I'd recommend just staying on the m5. Your big problem will probably be around bristol way jnc 14 on can be a pain

In my previous post I said junction 9 of the M5 near Shrewsbury which was a genuine mistake and should have said Tewkesbury. I tried to edit and rectify my post but only 2 hours are allowed to do this so had to add this post.

I'm local and would agree with cabbieman. The route is suitable for towing (although it can be a little tight through Studley due to parked cars) but it's much easier to just stick with the motorway.
