Amazing how many still out there. - 100,000
Sheds and unused patio heaters and Bbq's probably but I'd think most caravanners and the like would have turned them around by now.
Good if you can pick one up though. Free refill not to be sniffed at.

I have two Calor-Lite cylinders for recall but had nothing but problems trying to exchange them several times with excuses such as they are waiting for stock which has happened with at least 3 stockists. Two weeks ago I went to Raymond James Caravans in Atherstone (who I hadn't approached previously) to which there staff said "Sorry sir, we stopped taking recall cylinders 12 months ago".
I replied..."Okay, so don't ever expect me to buy a caravan from you" and walked out.
I have been on the Calor website looking for a contact number to ask the reason why their stockists are not being being compliant but there is no customer services contact number now as there was 2 years ago when the recall was first announced. Maybe this is because of too many complaints on this issue but the fact is that they don't recall explosive material unless there is a safety issue which should be taken seriously by all concerned and not swept under the carpet which appears to be the case. Like many authorities, they wait for someone to get seriously injured or killed before they take any constructive action which hasn't happened YET!

This is from the Calor recall page:
Calor has set up a dedicated phone line for any customers who have further questions regarding the product recall. The number to call is 0800 783 4141.

Thanks Paul, I will give them a call tomorrow and find out exactly how to proceed to get my 2 cylinders exchanged.
hi. i changed my recall lite at my local stockist. They said they have to change them. Some say no because it involves more work for them. Or just cant be bothered. When the recall started there was a shortage of replacement cylinders.stockists could not get enough of them. probably got better by now
I phoned the Calor telephone number provided by 'G7ACU' who then transferred me to a Birmingham office. I asked if it was reasonable for a Calor-Lite stockist to openly refuse to exchange a cylinder on a recall. Their response was that some stockists did refuse on the grounds that Calor could not provide any immediate replacements so go gave me an alternative stockist (with contact number) not too far from me that should exchange the cylinders I have. I will contact them over the weekend and see if they will exchange them.
Just posted this as an update and to thank 'G7ACU' too for the Calor contact number.
It would seem that you get different advice depending which office you speak to. After I was refused an exchange (and a cylinder was available) I phoned Calor and was transferred to Hull Calor Centre. They told me that stockists would no longer change them and I could only change them at a Calor Centre.
I had the same problem with caravan dealers and went to Gas and Hire, Chesterfield, who exchanged my cylinders for me and I now use them for replacement cylinders rather than the usual caravan dealers. In fact, I've now stopped using caravan dealers and their rip-off shops and get all my bits and pieces on the internet.
