Hi, whats the best way to clean the awning? What do you use? Ours is covered in green stuff - looks horrid. Last year I tried just cleaning it with hot soapy liquid but didn't make much difference.

Sorry ... but do not reproof automatically.
First, soak your awning ... at least twice ... then, if it's still leaking, apply proofing.
Canvas threads will expand when wet and fill holes ... but can take a couple of 'wettings' to get there.
Kelper, sorry for being a bit thick here but are you saying that it may not need reproofing after using awning cleaner? Just about to do ours tomorrow as it is on a seasonal pitch so is quite grubby in places and would be really happy if we didn't have to reproof it afterwards!
The sailing fraternity use a product called Wet and Forget on their sails.not cheap but google the web site for info.I used it to get rid of mold spores on the canvas skins of my aircraft,
I just use a pressure washer, only water, on a wide broom spread and stood with the lance a far way back but close enough to shift the muck, does a brilliant job if you take care and take your time, never had issues with loosing its waterproofing either

Thanks marg6. I tried this today on an Isbella awning which has been used for 8 months a year on a sesonal pitch for the last 5 years. Worked really well!
