Hi
First weekend away in Bailey 500/5
All going well until I hit gate post trying to get back into storage facility
Toilet cassette Locker door hinge snapped and a scrape / scratch on side of van
Could have been worse
Are locker doors easy to come by and fit ?
Are scratches /slight dent a easy repair

The first time we took our camper out we let an awning pole fall and it dented the door. The first time we took the caravan out, I dropped a kilner jar on the worktop and took a chunk out of it. The second time we took it out, it came off the car and ended up needing a new front panel.

I don't know about the locker door, but you can get mobile people out to repair the dent / scratch.

Have a look on Ebay for a cassette door I hit a high gate post and caused nearly 4 grands worth of damage I'm a lot more careful now..

took back panel of my coachman out years ago at Wollerton Park. Went down a dip pulling it with the land rover, that kept going and the van tried to stop but lost.
repaired new panel and still on the road, with a young couple with kids.
Repair and enjoy it !!

The cassette door is called a Thetford 'service door' which there are 3 sizes so you will have to measure the size for a replacement door but spares are also available here.

We have all made mistakes and will never repeat them, not all novices either, I remember only last year the chairman of the Caravan Club managed to haul the bottom off of his caravan's rear panel whilst on camera during a TV programme.

Don't feel too bad, it's a learning curve.

Years ago first time we went away in our van, my hubby who was towing was tense all the way there then he relaxed at the site entrance, lost concentration & promptly sideswiped their new fence. Fortunately the site owner was ok about but we were mortified. Not much damage to fence & a few scratches to side of van. Over the years various things on the van have dropped off or broke, it's an old van, but we always find replacements online or at breakers yards. Am sure you will be able to find a cassette door no problem 😊
