We were really considering joining the caravan club....until our experience today when visiting 2 club sites.
Wardens on but the sites were very unhelpful and quite rude.
We wanted a brochure on their sites and were told no brochure until you join the club!!!!
We would like to look at brochures and then decide if there're any site we would use, as not worth joining if we're not interested in any sites.
We then visited a privately run campsite, and the owners were lovely gav us a tour of their park and also brochures.

There isn't really what I would call a brochure on CC sites, There is a fairly basic printed information sheet though. All information is available on their website, site description, directions, reviews plus you can download the information sheet and site plan.
Doesn't excuse rudeness though.

I'm sorry you have been treated badly. We have never had that experience at a Caravan Club site. We have had nothing but pleasant experiences. We would highly recommend joining the club.

We have found that the CC sites are expensive and prescriptive, with strutting wardens insisting that the units should all be neatly arranged to their satisfaction.
However, the CL sites are generally far better, and added to the deals that can be obtained for overseas travel, then it is perhaps worth it.
If you are an occasional camper in the UK I would not bother

We have never bothered to join either club as we have found plenty of excellent privately run sites that are often cheaper than the club sites.
I'm not saying I wouldn't join, but I just can't really see the benefit at the moment.

The CC and its sites are often slated. More room for us then, we love them.
We often call in a site CC or others to ask if we can look around. We have always been met with politeness.
I must agree though that some site wardens think they are tin gods. They try to belittle you. It doesn't work with me. They need to go on a customer relations course.

We like the club sites because they are always nice and clean which is perfect for us as we have a folding camper which doesn't come with the facilities of a modern caravan. We don't always use cc sites but in all our time with the club we have only met one lot of wardens who we found were un helpful and stuck up
------------- its our imperfections that makes us perfect

We joined both clubs last year at the NEC to see which we might prefer. We have decided to go with the CCC as found them more friendly. So we vote for them and they will get our hard earned pennies.

All CC site information is available on their website and you don't have to be a member to view it.

I would look at the C.C. or the C.C.C. sites on their websites and see if there are many you would actually use.
No point in joining either if all their sites that you might like are too far away to be realistic.
We are members of the C.C. because they have sites in the areas we like to visit and most are within 100 mile radius of home, so are used often.
Also the standards of cleanliness and site maintenance are high and consistant.
Can't say I have ever had an issue with any of the wardens. I have always found them helpful and pleasant, although I have read other posts where rude wardens are mentioned in both clubs.
We also use privately owned sites, not just C.C. sites.

We found the C & CC to be the most unfriendly club you could ever imagine. Wardens who treat you like dirt and shout at you. Never again.

We are members of both clubs, but the times we have used club sites can be counted on half a hand, we use CLs/CSs or small cheap commercial sites which don't have wardens, only owners who are usually lovely when you see them, if at all. The last site we were at, payment was through a postbox. It had loos and showers too, but many don't, not a problem as we use our own in the caravan.

Both clubs are now full time businesses and not really for members, their CS and CL are good and many of their rallies are good but when it comes to so called member benefits ie Insurance, campsites, Ferry prices all can be had very much cheaper than the clubs.
Just one point both clubs claim they have exclusive rights to certificated sites for their own members only according to the MMC forum DEFFRA who issue the exception certificates state that the certificates they issue do not state it is for club members only and is entirely up to the cl cs owner if they follow the clubs dictate or not
