We have been members of the CC for many years and with one exception I have nothing but praise for the staff.
I would think it is very difficult to maintain a friendly demeanour all the time with some of the antics they have to put up with.As well as coping with the elements.
I think, as others have said ,it is not worth joining if you do not use the facilities.
I also agree it is now a business rather than a club and prices are starting to reflect that.
I am going to look at the C&CC this year also, and see if we can make use of their facilities as I believe they give an age discount.
Regards,
Greg
We joined the CC(no full stops)and have no intention of ever using any of their sites.

When we started caravanning we joined both the CC and C &CC, but after a couple of years we decided the CC sites were much nicer, in terms of the landscaping and especially the immaculate and comfortable toilet blocks.
We've never come across an unpleasant warden, or even one that was bothered about how close to the peg you pitch (having a German van we have to pitch back to front anyway!) I'd like to single out Ferry Meadows, Peterborough, for having the most friendly, cheerful staff we've ever met. (And it's a beautifully laid-out and maintained site.)
------------- Il vaut mieux vivre ses reves que rever sa vie
We also find the C.C.is not always as expensive as some people think with comparable privately owned sites of the same standard.
If you are not a member you pay extra per night, maybe thats why some people think it is very expensive if they are not members and been charged the additional fee?
Membership is less than £1 per week.

It is a fool who has to say something.
hi ive been a member of the c.club for 16 years never had any trouble with the wardens but the sites are getting very exspencive we have been on private sites and a lot cheaper and cleaner all the years the c.club showers still have curtains why they stick to you cloths get wet and all the private sites have not got curtains and your cloths dont get wet cheers .tom
We have been in the club for 30 years and have always found the sites to be of a high standard.
The hard working wardens are always very friendly and helpful, in fact in this time we have only encountered one grumpy warden! I guess anyone is entitled to a bad day!
We are also in the C&CC which is also very good
Yes prices have increased but they are businesses and costs have increased.
One of the reasons we spend a lot of time in France as we are fed up with rip off Britain-its rare to pay to park in towns etc, and with ACSI we get good deals. Being recently retired we go in the low season

Both clubs are now full time businesses and not really for members, their CS and CL are good and many of their rallies are good but when it comes to so called member benefits ie Insurance, campsites, Ferry prices all can be had very much cheaper than the clubs.
Just one point both clubs claim they have exclusive rights to certificated sites for their own members only according to the MMC forum DEFFRA who issue the exception certificates state that the certificates they issue do not state it is for club members only and is entirely up to the cl cs owner if they follow the clubs dictate or not
My understanding is that both Clubs have been given the authority to issue their own certificates (delegated by DEFRA) for 5 vans sites and as a condition of a certificate being issued can dictate the T&C's ie members only. This is the only way that those T&C's can be monitored and the certificate removed for a breach of those T&C's.

This is part of a reply to a complaint about a cs constantly abusing the 5 van rule (it is from about 6 years ago I believe nothing has changed)
The Club however cannot be held responsible for any such breach of the terms and conditions on a Certificated Site. CSs are listed as a benefit to members, but they are not operated centrally by the Club and are run entirely by the land owner".
I think you would have got a different story had it been a Caravan Club CL. The Club have removed CL's in the past for not following the guidelines. However the pragmatist in me suggests that you have to think carefully about complaining about a CL unless there is a serious breach because you are likely to loose the opportunity to use it in the future.
CC for us! We think that the club sites are immaculate and the wardens very helpful. Although prices have risen slightly over the last few years, many improvements are being made. These include more hard stands, newer and greener toilet/shower blocks and even more room given over to tent camping in some sites. All of the information you need is on the CC website.

For the past couple of years we have been in both clubs - but will not rejoin CC this year. Only joined to stay at Roundtree site in York.
Great site but wardens and assistants are reals jobsworths and put me off all together. stayed there twice and they were awkward both times.
I have no sympathy at all for people who are rude and pedantic.
