Hi just bought a swift caravan with an onboard water pump first time used this weekend and the water pump starts up and runs for a few second which is annoying through the night Without water running I've checked there's no leaks does anyone know if this is normal or know of a solution
Regards Graham
It is normal, they do this to top up the water system, if it's waking you up I would suggest a few large Whiskies before bed, works for me failing that just switch it off

As the pressure drops in the water system the pump kicks in for a few seconds just to replenish the system which is quite normal. The solution is to switch the pump off and leave till morning then when the pump is switched on it will just replenish instead of doing it at intervals during the night.
Thanks for the reply a tango55
Will try that tonite its first time away with van & wanted to make sure everything ok while still under warranty

It's always best to turn the pump off at the switch as well if you go out for a few hours as any malfunction with the pump in your absence is likely to drain the battery. It's a very remote chance of it happening but just a word of advice as you are new to caravanning.
Hi Tango
Thanks for the advice but regarding new to caravaning I'm not,
I started over 35 years ago with a Thompson Glenelg & had statics as well
The thing is it's my first van with the onboard pump I have always used the submersible whale type in past
Regards Graham
Quick update
Found the reason the pump was kicking in every half hour, found the shower tap had been left open but water only dripping slightly as we have the trigger type shower head
Once the tap had been shut off no more problems with the pump kicking in
Thanks for all the help
