Help needed urgently PLEASE!
I have an Elddis Mistral GTX 1999 2 berth caravan with radial tyres . ( max running load 1100kg)
165R13 94/92Q fitted as far as I can make out . I haven't the handbook and searching online have seen pressures given from 32 to 50 psi which is quite a range and not helping me choose safe pressure! Advice please. MAny thanks Liz
As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
unless the tyre is at max load it certainly dosnt want to be at max pressure..
i run my two berth at 42 psi.. the max load is about the same as the OPs van..
i keep mine at the low end of the scale to minimize road shock.. the max pressure on mine is 65 psi but that is for a much heavier load and speeds of up to 90 mph..
If you know the max pressure and the rated max load and the actual load you can work it out. All that's missing is the max pressure from the tyre wall.
is it linear.. lets say the max load is 1500 kg (750 kg per tyre) the max pressure is 65 psi.. the max speed 90 mph..
i know you can add 10% to the max load if the tyre never goes above 60 mph..
so if the 1500 kg is halved to 750 kg can the pressure be halved to 32.5 psi.. which would be something like 28 psi allowing for the 60 mph speed reduction..
you are probably right.. once you know the max load and max psi to suit the max load the rest can be worked out easy enough.. the 10% would be a nice margin of error..
all i know is my van tyres have an easy life.. everything is not much more than 65% of their actual rating.. he he..
My Adria came with a decal on each mudguard de-picting one of those hand pumps were you put your feet on the stirrups and pump with both hands and a pressure of 4,45 bar = 65 PSI MTMP 1700KGS for van
