Am I right in thinking that I should get a reading at the battery terminals when connected to EHU when there is no battery fitted. If there isn't a reading it is either a fuse or the charger I don't want to pay out on a new charger if Iv'e overlooked something. Caravan is a Bailey Ranger 500/5 2003
thanks

My 2005 pageant did not have an on /off switch for battery charger & if connected to the mains the charge rate at the battery leads was 13.8v so either the charger has come disconnected or the 10amp inline fuse inside the van behind or even under the battery box has blown.
the charger is inside the distribution box mine was under the left bench seat .first check the fuses & trip switches . there is one marked battery,if ok you will need to remove the front face of the distribution/fuse box & the charger unit is at the top & slides out . there is a kettle type lead that plugs into the charger & sometimes this comes out of place . MAKE SURE THE VAN IS DISCONNECTED FROM THE MAINS BEFORE TAMPERING WITH THE FUSE BOX
Depending on where the charger is fitted in this van, if it's located in a slot above the main fuses, trip switches etc (remove main cover), then it's possible the mains input has become loose from the back of the charger. On these it's a simple 'kettle' type mains connector and they have been found to work loose and cause charger loss.
Worth checking.

Thanks for your replies all.
I replaced the charger and all seems ok now. The only switch I have is just below the volt meter and I think it's just a 12v mains switch, I don't think it turns the charger on and off. I also managed to get a replacement battery because mine was only 8 months old. I took it back to Halfords and they said it just needed charging but agreed to replace it when I told them it had been on my car battery charger for over 4 hours. Thanks again
