Does anyone know what tyre pressure should be on my jockey wheel,
I have a Lunar Clubman ES, which I have just purchased, and as I was using the motor mover to get it up the drive the outer of the jockey wheel post scraped the bottom of the drive.
The tyre looked very flat, so I checked the pressure and it was 30psi, which seem the Wright pressure, this is the first van I have had with this type of tyre I normally have a solid rubber one.
Can anyone help before I destroy the driveway

I can't believe 30psi is not enough for what should be a lightly loaded wheel. Was the wheel forced sideways or something.

No straight up, only 2 calor bottles and spare wheel in front locker, the driveway is on an incline

I would just up the pressure it's only a jockey wheel so can't see it doing any harm.

I have the al-ko pneumatic jockey wheel/tyre, been on the van for over two years and used often.
The recommended pressure is I believe 30psi but I put 35 psi in the tyre and it does the job, even through 4" deep stone chips on part of the drive.

30 psi in my jockey wheel tyre dosnt look flat.. are you sure the post isnt bending.. i keep mine as short as i can to avoid bending..

the tyres are rated at 30 psi max.. a little more probably wouldnt hurt but without excessive nose weight they really should not need it..

Can only say I don't have excessive nose weight, never do. Caravanner for 40+ years.

Got talking to caravan mechanic in my local caravan dealers before I bought mine and he advised the 35psi.
He said the biggest issue with pneumatic tyres on jockey wheels was the tyre popping off the rim when turning.

Adding the extra 5psi helped to reduce the risk and after two years of doing so, I agree with him.

Its not like a car tyre, it only travels very slowly and short distances.

my jockey wheel is a split steel rim.. i just had to buy a new tyre and tube for it.. the old tube had died from old age.. i would guess it was fitted from new about 22 years ago.. he he

all i can say is it would take some ridiculous abuse to fetch the tyre off the rim.. the weak spot by far is the tube length.. they are pretty easy to bend if they get sideways on with a motor mover..

while looking for a new tyre i did see some solid ones (tyres) roughly about the same size and shape.. about £15 quid i think.. my new tyre and tube was £12 quid..

ps.. for what its worth my new tyre is rated at a max load of 136 kg at a max pressure of 30 psi..

I bought a chunky of-road go-kart tyre/tube for mine, based on my conversation with the caravan mechanic.
I think it cost me £8 on Ebay 2 years ago and I just fitted it myself.

The original Al-KO tyre set up had 200kg static nose load and 120kg dynamic nose load. With 30psi.

The max pressure is written on the tyre sidewall, its 50 psi on ours, I put about 45 in it. Had it for years but I did have to buy a new inner tube for it a couple of years ago!

Mine has 50 psi on the sidewall and I also inflate to 45 psi, I also think that if it is a red plastic wheel then stick to 30 psi. My wheel is steel.
