Hi we took our awning down last November but our site don't close till end of Dec . Then closes for 4 weeks . Quite a few people have left their awnings up till end of Dec then put extra down poles in then came and checked them every weekend . Said it's not worth taking it down for 4 weeks . As they come back and forth again in January anyway . They did say you may only get a few seasons from your awning though as they deteriorate quicker . I know a lot round lytham area that don't take them down   some do but stop comin to van Oct till March we would like to come we have q cane sofa and last year had to tarpaulin it when we took awning down everything went inside the van so we couldn't come them . What people's thoughts on it who leaves theirs up that's seasonal anyone or no one .....confused .com 😬

I suspect it would depend upon the make of the awning. Some are desigfned to cope with all winds and weathers, others arent.

Our seasonal pitch is Mid March to End October. The site gets very windy at the start and end of the season, so the owner advises people to not put awnings up in March and Oct. We always take the caravan to France for some of May and June, so we don't put te full awning up till we are back. We have a cheapo porch awning that we put up when we are at the van in the Spring - goes up in 20 minutes.
Some people keep theirs up the whole season with extra storm straps and guy ropes etc, but at least one awning is wrecked every year by the wind (and incompetent putting up, I suspect.)

We were on a site near the coast early on in the season just after the bank holiday this year. Most of the vans on site were seasonal and had full awnings left up .Had some nice weather untill the wind and rain came.About ten awnings had come adrift with poles blowing all over the place and owners not at their vans. The site contacted them and some came back to try and recover their awnings .but it was not possible in the conditions. Most were full awnings with the poles blowing all over.not sure if any had damaged the vans. All the contents a lot with cane furniture were blowing outside in the wind and rain.
Having witnesed this myself if i ever go seasonal i wouldn't be leaving the awning up till around June.

We were seasonal until last year. We took our awning down when the site closed (Nov - Mar). Some used to leave their awning up with extra poles but I always wondered if it put too much strain on your awning rail, storing up damp problems for the future. Also I thought the weight of a heavy fall of snow would surely tear the fabric? we were allowed to have a small plastic shed so the contents of the awning used to fit inside like a jigsaw but it meant we could still use the van if we took it down earlier or didn't put it up at the start of the season.

yes we have a keter store it out box but have a cane sofa and chair even with cushions off its too wide to do in it. Only soulution is go every week if we leave it up and check it the guy at the camp said we can do that as others do it as they are only shut 6 weeks we would put as much inside van and shed as we could and stack the sofa and chair under tarpaulin . Failing that its goin to be tarpaulin outside which im not that keen on. We can go up anytime if it were to snow as its only 50 mins away in Lytham we are in Manchester . Just tryin to think of the best options
