Do dealers offer enough discount/special offers/extras packs to make the time & expense of travelling to Birmingham worthwhile, or are we likely to be able to negotiate something similar if we are actually at a dealer premises?
Usually there are deals but is a good chance to play one dealer against the other if you know what you want. The big mistake is to believe what dealers and manufacturers say about warranty can be carried out by any authorised dealer. This is true but dealers who did not sell you your caravan will refuse because manufacturers don't pay full rate for warranty work. You have to rely on the legal obligation of the selling dealer. So get the best price and ask local dealer to beat or match it .otherwise you will have to travel to get work done.
I have just ordered a Coachman and think I got the free mover deal expected at the show!
Mister G, I take it the dealer you ordered from hinted that because Coachman were doing the mover deal before, this was likely this year?

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
All the new Coachman 2017 models had stickers to show free mover. also another dealer offered free mover on Coachman.A third dealer refused the free mover but advised me to look at the show if I wanted a free mover. So it was my conclusion based on this. I traded between the 2 and got a cash discount as well so no need to go to the show. I am hoping for November delivery as opposed to what I was told would be Feb if ordered at the show. I sold mine so the sooner the better.
Out of interest which were the two dealers and was this a bottom of the range mover or the next one up. Cheers.

I think the truth is that some builders supply their dealers with special deals for vans purchased at these major shows, particularly the October one as it sets the order book for the year.
The bigger point though is how much of this and their own margin they are prepared to hand on and that will vary for the asking and any negotiating skills you have.
If travelling distance to the show is large then it is difficult to seek a show price then work on a more local dealer. It might be best to come away from the show with an agreed price on an option open for enough days to do research locally.
This year if you are def looking at a caravan I would order before the show if you know what you are after as many of the caravans are already May delivery by the show you may not be able to get them at all !!!
Coachman doing free mover as well.
We ordered our new van three weeks ago and as it was unknown at that time if there would be an offer, the salesman noted on our deposit receipt that we would be entitled to any show offer.
Coachman give the dealer a set amount for the mover, but as our new van needs a more powerful mover, the dealer has to make up the shortfall themselves.
