Hi, need some help, I have not yet used the shower in my 95 Coachman Genius but we are planning some trips over the winter so think we might give it a go rather than go to the shower blocks, thing is it has been refitted with a trigger type shower head and I don't think it works very well. Our first trip away in the summer had us flood the bathroom floor because unbeknown to me the shower tap was on but the trigger was obviously not pulled, this meant the water had nowhere to go. So, I presume trigger heads are not meant for that type of water system? And are most caravan shower hoses of a Similar size?
Hi, we always shower in the shower blocks don't fancy making the confined space of the caravan damp with condensation especially in autumn and winter. as for flooding the bathroom floor even without trigger being pulled this should not happen hose should have been water tight enough to prevent this.

I am not sure I quite understand surely the water went down the shower drain? Normally the shower head can be replaced by a standard domestic one. You might want to get a relatively small one if the water pressure is low otherwise it might come out a a dribble.
We use our shower all the time can see the point in having one otherwise certainly wouldn't fancy wondering miles to some block when it is -4c outside not my idea of fun.
I changed our original shower head to a trigger type which is much better. With a standard shower head, every time you turn on the water you need to keep adjusting the hot and cold water taps constantly to maintain the temperature which also uses more water from the barrel. With the trigger type, once it is set then the temperature remains the same so less hassle and no wasted water.
If the tap was left open then that can't be blamed on the system as that was down to human error for not closing the shower taps when finished showering.
Hi, what I mean is when we used the van the first time I connected up the water I wasn't aware the shower taps were on, so as no one used the shower and the trigger on the head wasn't pulled, the water forced its way out of somewhere else, resulting in a wet bathroom floor!
Most probably the taps were left open when the system was drained down and are left open till the next system fill up. The first task is to close all the taps at 3 locations, the kitchen sink, the wash basin and shower because if the trigger is left open then the water won't reach the head until the taps are opened.
Sounds as if it is possibly a micros witch system controlling the pump. The lever on the shower head will not have a microswitch and will leave the pump running with high pressure.
Do the taps click when you turn them on and off.
Newer vans have a pressure switch system meaning the trigger will allow the pressure switch to switch the pump off.
Are you saying the hose was leaking maybe at one of the joints and the pump was running.

So, you dont boil a kettle or ever have a pan of water on the stove? Or wash up at all? Or hang wet clothes in the shower?
All sources of moisture within. Caravans are susceptible from damp from the outside, not having a daily scrub in the shower!
