We looked at a couple of new Swifts at Salop Leisure, they have a central island bed at the rear with central washroom.
Both had beds that are less than 6 ft long, probably 5'10 at most!
As I am 6'2, not a lot of use for me.That is not exceptionally tall nowadays.

Shame as we quite like the layout.

The models with the transverse beds do pull out a little bit but I think those ones with the rear island beds are fixed, the models I saw in showroom , the bottom of the bed was tight up against the dividing wall between bedroom and toilet/shower area.

what about having a bit on the end of the bed that pulls out, and then slide the mattress down? fill the top end of the mattress with some foam, could work if that was the only problem stopping you buying it

That's correct there is no adjustment.Our Bailey Vigo has the transverse bed which telescopes and is just long enough for me.

The bed cant be adjusted as it goes up to the wall. Weve ordered the Conqueror 650 we love this layout as it will give us privacy from the kids! We are waiting for delivery hopefully end of Nov/Dec as we ordered it end of July so our dealers ordered it as a demo for their branch otherwise its very long waiting times for new Swifts, we were told July/august 2017!

Hi-we ordered a sterling elite yesterday and were told the dealer had it on arrangement for production slot due to be ready February time-do you think this is true or have we been sold a line? He seemed pretty genuine and also offered to store it for free if we couldn't find suitable storage. I agree there weren't many deals available-we were told it was because demand is. Outweighing supply at the minute

Some dealers have preordered so they could be telling the truth but your not going to know til nearer the time? We have been told that ours has been allocated as a demo model for the dealers otherwise we wouldn't have received it til the middle of next year and the Sprites for 2016 were only arriving August this year from ones ordered at the show. I was also told this by another dealer to check if it was right and they told me that Swift are concentrating on motorhomes as demand is higher so the build dates on the caravans are very long. The dealers should be able to check on Swifts website and see when the expected build date will be, however, this can be delayed due to other issues. I don't think customers realise when they order new vans that the delivery times can be so long and its something they aren't going to tell you! Once you've paid your deposit that's it your on a waiting game.

Yes he checked on the swift mainframe for us to give us that date. I guess we just won't book anything until we know for definite. We haven't got a caravan now so it will be a bonus whenever it arrives!

We visited the Caravan Show at the NEC last week, and we had a close look at the new Swift Basecamp.
We loved its style and its totally practical approach to use in the Great Outdoors.
This is a fairly basic and lightweight 2-berth van, and I would guess that Swift have aimed it at people who are new to caravanning, and who are likely to have a vehicle of average (or lower) towing capacity.
HOWEVER, what on earth are Swift doing delivering this to the marketplace with a noseweight of 100kg? Is there something I'm missing?
